LRC improves Learning Hub facilities
3 February 2023 | Joshua Michael G. Jonas |
The Learning Hub at the Learning Resource Center (LRC) has improved its facilities with the support and assistance of different offices and organizations in the university.
The UP Epsilon Chi Fraternity donated furniture and supplies such as dividers, tables, chairs, whiteboards, and snack items for the students. The Office of Counseling and Guidance shared long tables. Meanwhile, individuals continued to donate books for the hub’s reading corner.
Aside from being a comfortable place where students can study, the Learning Hub provides secure internet access, charging plugs, and other pieces of equipment.
The hub houses five computer units connected to the UPLB internet and ready-to-use student applications. Inside are study areas/desks, a small reading corner with over 1000 books, and manuals.
An al fresco area with a view of Molawin Creek features tables with large umbrellas for students who prefer to study outdoors. During the regular semester, snacks and coffee are provided for students.
LRC, with support from different units of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs (OVCSA) ensures the safe accommodation, comfort, and security of students during their stay at the Student Union (SU) building.
The Learning Hub operates from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. with strict observance of minimum COVID-19 health protocols. Students must log in at the entrance of the SU building and present their student ID and OHMS building pass.
