OSA spearheads week-long pre-college orientation for freshmen, parents
2 July 2018 | Cesar Ilao III |
The Guidance and Counseling Division (OSA-GCD) is conducting a pre-college orientation for the incoming new freshmen at the basement of the Student Union (SU) Building, and their parents at the Makiling Hall from July 2 to 6.
Around 2,700 students were qualified to pursue their undergraduate studies in UPLB. To accommodate the number of participants, the orientation is being done in two batches. The first batch starts from 7:00 am to 12:00 nn, while the second starts at 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
In the orientation, OSA introduced its services to incoming freshmen, and the important events that they should remember in their first week at the university, such as AlmOSAlan, Campus Tour, and Freshman Night. Small group discussions were also done to help the new freshmen know each other.
Meanwhile, the parents' orientation focused on the university and academic policies, services of OSA, and first aid in mental health care to the parents of the new freshmen.
The parents were encouraged to sign a pledge of commitment as proof that they have understood the topics discussed above, and of their involvement with OSA's Parent's Responsible Engagement in Nurturing Teens (PARENTS): Fostering a healthy well-being to promote the holistic development of the students.
