OSA holds first recognition day for graduating UPLB Gabay Volunteers
10 July 2015 | KNVBeato |
The Counseling and Testing Division (CTD) under the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) recognized 13 graduating members of the UPLB Gabay Volunteer Corps on 4 July 2015 at the Makiling Hall, Student Union Building.
Hours before their graduation, the student volunteers gathered with their families and the OSA staff for the first testimonial and recognition program for graduating Gabay volunteers. CTD head Ms. Janett A. Dolor and UPLB Gabay adviser Dr. Erick Vernon Y. Dy gave each volunteer a medal and a certificate of service award.
Marvin M. Bilog bagged the award as the Outstanding UPLB Gabay Volunteer for the academic year 2014-2015. He was given an Oblation Statuette for his dedication and service to the CTD program.
Mr. Christian Paolo B. Balahadia, former UPLB Gabay Volunteer, recounted his experiences when he was still a student. He said that he decided to join the program because the members do not expect something in return for the things they do. "Yung fulfillment na makukuha mo sa pagtulong na ‘yun, motivation na binibigay samin… 'yung pagiging volunteer, nasa'yo eh." (The fulfillment and motivation in volunteering come from within). He also dubbed the volunteer program as "GAwaing walang BAYad" (work without pay).
Ms. Dolor acknowledged the importance of the volunteers. She said that without them, the activities held by the CTD will not be successful. She also said that the guidance service specialists are very grateful to them for being the "arm of the CTD." She hopes to see them again even after graduation, continuing to embody the university thrust which is honor and excellence.
