Student leaders, administration come together at UPLB Student Leaders’ Summit
8 March 2014 | MVASantos |
On March 7-8, 2014, the Student Organizations and Activities Division with the Office of the Chancellor and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs conducted the Student Leaders' Summit.
With the theme Forging Strong Partnership for the University and for the Nation, the university and the students met to discuss the direction of the university and the organizations. This helped the university determine how students can take part in helping fulfill the thrusts of the university.
During the summit, the administration presented its current thrusts concerning the welfare of the students. These are: academic excellence, research productivity, improvement of facilities and classrooms, recruitment program, campus security, clean and green UPLB, UPatrol, and public service.
After hearing the thrusts of the university, the student leaders were given time to consolidate their plans and concerns which they presented the following day.
According to the administration, the initial activity and program proposals of the student leaders may be funded provided the proposals are in line with the thrusts of the university. The student organization clusters were asked to submit their consolidated and finalized plans within the year.
The student leaders underwent a one-day team building activity to acquaint them with one another, and to foster cooperation and communication among them.
The summit served as a venue for the student leaders to collaborate with one another utilizing the strengths and resources of each student organization.
