CTD links graduating students with employers
15 June 2016 | CHHagosojos |In order to provide a venue for graduating students to meet possible future employers, the Counseling and Testing Division conducted the University Job Fair on 15-17 June 2016 at the Makiling Hall, SU Building.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Nina M. Cadiz, OSA Director, mentioned that the university job fair is part of the university's commitment and support to the graduating class. Furthermore, she expressed her gratitude to the participating companies for their support to the event.
Dr. Portia G. Lapitan, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs reminded the graduating students that it is the university's desire to support them. "Our support to you will always be continuing. Though you will be graduating from the university, I would like to remind you that you can always come back to UPLB for any support you will be needing," she said. She ended her message with a quote from UP President Alfredo E. Pascual: "Let us do our best to succeed not because we have a reputation to protect, but because we have a nation to serve."
Dr. Roberto G. Visco, Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs, delivered the inspirational message of Chancellor Fernando C. Sanchez, Jr. The chancellor advised the students to take as much as they can from the event. According to him, the job fair will give the students an opportunity to learn about the different industries and will allow them to explore their options upon graduation.
A few representatives from the participating companies presented their company profiles to the students. Mr. Paul Cuyegkeng, CEO of Sumifru, Inc, expressed their company's need for graduates from different fields. "We need you more than you need us," he said.
Thirty companies and 464 students participated in the three-day job fair.
